- When a beam of light falls on a smooth surface it gets reflected in one direction. This is called regular reflection.
- When a beam of light falls on an uneven surface it gets reflected in different directions. This is called irregular or diffused reflection.
- There are two laws of reflection: 1. the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of reflection. 2. The incident ray, the normal and the reflected ray all lie in the same plane.
- The image formed by a plane mirror is virtual, erect, of the same size as the object, as much behind the mirror as the object is in front of it, and laterally inverted.
