Question: Why is it important to maintain a balance between living things and non – living things?

Answer: Our environment has both living and non – living things. Livings depend on non – living things for survival. For example, plants need non – living things such as air, water and sunlight to survive and grow. Therefore, it is very important to maintain a balance between the two.

Question: Why should we not allow water to collect in one place?

Answer:  Do not allow water to collect at one place. Mosquitoes breed in still waters and causes disease.

Question: What is built on landfills when they are full?

Answer: When full, these ditches are covered with with soil. Parks and gardens are built over them by the government.

Question: Discuses some steps that can be taken to keep our environment clean.

Answer: Some steps that can be taken to keep our environment clean: Some types of wastes can be recycled and reused. Recycling is the process of reusing a product or producing a new product from a used or waste material.

For e.g.

  1. Used paper is a recyclable waste. Old paper can be used to make new paper.
  2. Some plastic wast and glass bottles can also be recycled in the same way.
  3. Dirty water can be recycled by using it for watering the plants.
  4. We can find ways of reusing things that are usually thrown away. For example, cardboard boxes can be used to store thing and plastic jars or aluminium cans can be made into pencil holders. Shopping bags and dusters can be made from old clothes. To keep the environment clean and healthy – REDUCE, RECYCLE and REUSE.
