Maharani Gayatri Devi Girls’ School, the first public school in India for girls, today has a formidable reputation.
Located in the heart of the city of Jaipur in Rajasthan, it attracts pupils from all parts of the country and abroad. It is affiliated to the CBSE and has a strength of over 2500 girls of which about 400 are resident on campus.
The School is managed by the MGD Girls’ School Society which functions through a Board of Governors, headed by Rani Vidya Devi of Jaipur.
In the words of the Founder, Rajmata Gayatri Devi, “The aim of the institution is to make its pupils cultured and useful members of society. When they enter the world they should be able to take an active interest in the betterment of their homes and community and when they grow up, they should be able to fit themselves usefully into the world of tomorrow.”
Registration And Admission To Class I
Registration for admission in Class-I only will open from 1st November, Parents desiring admission for their daughter / ward are to submit the Registration form along with a fee of Rs. 1000/- latest by 30th November.
Admissions: Other Classes
The number of seats in each class is very limited. Admission to students in other classes will be given subject to availability of seats. Admissions to Classes II to IX will be on the basis of an Entrance test in English, Hindi and Mathematics conducted in the month of January for the session beginning in April.
Admission to Class XI
Admissions to class XI will be conducted in the month of June after the declaration of the CBSE Board results. Admission will be on the basis of the results of class X as well as a personal interview.
Parents are required to give three months’ notice in writing of the intended withdrawal of a student. If such notice is not given full fees for 3 months will be charged.
Transfer Certificate will be issued only after all clearance formalities are completed including clearance of dues.
The students are divided in eight hostels according to the class they study in. These hostel arrangements are flexible in nature. Currently (2009-10), students in Standard I-IV are housed in Anand A and Anand B, Standard VI in Lilian Hurst (named after the founder principal, Ms. L.G. Lutter), Standard V in Ashyana, Standard X are housed in Geetanjali A and Geetanjali B, Standard IX in Deepshikha and Standard VI, VII in Vidya Devi Bhawan with the senior most batches in Standard XII being housed in Indira Bhawan, (named after the mother of Rajamta Gayatri Devi).
