Kulachi Hansraj Model School, started in 1972 now stands tall at 38 in 2010 with a glorious past, a precious present and promising future. Over the last 38 years, Kulachi has come a long way. It has established beautiful traditions and embarked upon new ventures. It is a living monument, breathing symbol of the ideals of Maharishi Dayanand Ji and Mahatma Hansraj Ji. From a humble beginning in the rented accommodation of Arya Samaj building in Ashok Vihar, Ph-I the School has made phenomenal progress and has carved out its place as a premier institution on the educational map of India. It has 7500 students on its roll and more than 350 qualified and dedicated teachers.

“To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield” is the guiding philosophy of this institution. Innovations and experimentation with new situations have taken this institution to such heights that it has become a pace setter. Quality is not a mere profession but an obsession with us. Excellence is a continuous process with us. It is a place where all children grow, not just in size, not only in knowledge but in curiosity, courage, confidence, independence, resourcefulness, resilience, patience, competence and understanding. The vast campus of KHMS branches out at several places in Ashok Vihar dividing itself into the Senior, Primary, Nursery, Day-Boarding, Kulachi Manovikas Kendra, (a special School for mentally and physically handicapped children) Dayanand Adult Education Centre for illiterate women of the neighbouring area, Bal Saksharta Kendra for the poor children of J.J. Colonies and Nav Chetna for school dropouts.

Alumni of the School -KOSA

Kulachi Alumni Reunion-KOSA is annual feature in the month of January every year. School provided an excellent platform to Ex Kulachians to relive, recall and cherish the old ties with alma mater. Students from the very first batch 1982 onwards come with their families. It is an enriching experience to mingle with old associates, share their experiences and achievements. Fun games, magic show at the kid's corner, stage performance by teachers & students are main attractions. The venue is decorated with colourful balloons and banners. Students dance to the melodious tunes of rocking D.J.

According to Mrs. P. Datta, it is very exciting experience to see the students attaining great heights in their career and back school refreshes their memories.

Value Systems - Celebrations

National Festivals: All national festivals like independence Day, Republic Day, Gandhi Jayanti are celebrated with great fervor. Houses are required to come up with a special assembly on these days. The spirit of patriotism reverberates in the atmosphere. Songs, dances skits etc. are all theme based and bring out in every child-love for his country.

Elders Day: It is celebrated on the 1st of October. ‘Love The Elders’ is the highlight of the day. Our elders have given us their everything to us and they demand only our love, our care and a little of our time of befitting programme is prepared for the occasion. Some of the grandparent too are invited to witness the programme during assembly.

Charitra Nirman Shivirs: Charitra Nirman Shivirs are organized every year for every class. It is a programme for the students, of the students and by the students. Through myriad activities that are organized all through the day, the students develop leadership qualities, self discipline, self confidence and a spirit of healthy competition. They sing, they compare, they Dance, they Quiz and they cheer. On the whole, it is a students day-out whereby their creativity, their talents, their imagination gets expression. The Shivirs begin with the customary Havan which is performed by students and teachers together.

Foundation Day: It was on the 13th of April 1972 that the foundation stone of Kulachi Hansraj Model School was laid. This day of Baisakhi is beautifully etched out in the history of this institution and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor every year. All the wings of the school come together and celebrate the grand occasion. Teachers come up with a beautiful cultural programme. The programme is chaired by President DAVCMC Shri G.P. Chopra. On this auspicious occasion all the ladies of the Adult Education Centre are gifted Sewing Machines so that they can become economically independent and self reliant.

Earth Day: 23rd of April marks the celebration of Earth Day. An awareness is drawn through a beautiful programme prepared by the science Department for the occasion. The young impressionistic minds who still have some idealism to save the world are exposed to the beauty of balance in play on planet. The programme commences with a pledge by the students to save the earth from annihilation.

Investiture: The formal induction ceremony where by the new student council is decorated with badges by the Principal is the annual feature which is held in the month of April. The Principal administers the oath of office to the new council after handing over the flag of the school to the new head boy and head girl. The outgoing council is felicitated with mementoes and certificate for their sincere discharge of duties.

Vanmahotsava: This is an annual celebration that marks the first week of August. A special assembly is organized by one of the houses. ‘Lets Go Green’ is the theme of this celebration. Children come up with a beautiful cultural progamme that includes street play, poetry recitation, dance etc. The programme concludes with tree plantation.

Teacher’s Day: Kulachi is a happening place on 5th September every year. Students of Class XII dress up in their best of clothes and become teachers for a day. The day begins with a programme for teachers during assembly. Then the student teachers go to their classes as per the Time-Table set particularly for that day. The student teachers are also assessed on how well they have managed their class.

Computer fest – Tech4 us: It is memorable day for the Annual Computer Symposium ‘Edge’. This Inter-School computer fest is organized by Tech4us every year in the month of September. The mega event witnesses huge participation from myriad schools all over Delhi. The aim is to encourage students to come out of the cocoon of their thoughts and share and compete with the outside world. the events range from Quizzing, C++ Programming, VB Programming, Web Designing, Flash Animation, Movie Making, Robitics etc. The Rolling Trophy is bagged the school that has the best overall performance.
